How Does Drip Irrigation Get Installed?
The drip irrigation installation process may seem complex but with the right tools and knowledge, it's a process you may be able to tackle. The basic process of installing a drip irrigation system is:
- Selecting and purchasing the appropriate supplies
- Uncoil all the tubing lines to straighten them out
- Setting watering timers for the desired time
- Attach your watering timers to the water outlets
- Lay out the solid/blank line and the emitter line
- Cut the solid/emitter tubing to the right lengths
- Put metal connector collars on all tubing ends
- Push the lubing connector into the cut ends
- Slide the metal collars onto the tubing and tighten them
- Install all remaining connectors
- Install the hose connector on the end of the water outlet
- Connect the connector to the watering timer
- Use the manual setting on the timer to test the system
- Turn the irrigation system on and walk the line
- Check for any connections that are leaking
- Place the line into the permanent condition
